Character Set

The character sets of English and Dutch are similar—both languages primarily use the Latin alphabet. However, Dutch has additional features. Here's a detailed comparison:

The main differences between the English and Dutch writing systems:

• Digraph ij: In Dutch, ij combined is often treated as a single letter. When capitalized at the start of a sentence or proper noun, both I and J are capitalized (e.g., IJmuiden).
